Jadon Sancho could force Erik ten Hag to rethink his Rasmus Hojlund transfer approach.

Traditionally a winger, Ten Hag is once again trying to mould Jadon Sancho into something different at Man Utd. The 23-year-old has thus far experienced a torrid time at Old Trafford since making the highly-anticipated €85 million switch from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.

Last season, the Dutchman sent Sancho to the Netherlands to clear his head and work on his fitness, but to no avail. The England international continued to struggle for form. At one point, Ten Hag experimented with playing him in a more central role, and it appears that the Red Devils boss has not given up on this idea.

So far in pre-season, with United still not having been able to bring in the central striker their coach so desperately wants, Sancho has been utilised as a false nine - to devastating effect. He scored as United downed Arsenal and has generally impressed Ten Hag with his overall play, finding space and driving his team up the pitch.

This revelation could change the Manchester club's transfer priorities.

Is Sancho the solution?

According to the Express, Erik ten Hag could be forced to rethink whether he truly needs a new striker should Sancho continue to perform in his new role over the course of pre-season.

This would mean moving on from trying to strike a deal for Rasmus Hojlund, with United already beginning to become disillusioned with Atalanta's ridiculous valuation of the still relatively inexperienced youngster.

With Marcus Rashford also able to deputise up top and Alejandro Garnacho ready to become a starter on the wing, United may have found an in-house solution to their striker woes.

As the club are operating on a shoestring budget after splashing the cash on Mason Mount and Andre Onana, this would free up funds to pursue another midfielder like Sofyan Amrabat.
