Arsenal have increased their asking price for outgoing striker Folarin Balogun to €60 million, according to Sky Sports UK.

It had been expected that Balogun would be available for much less this summer, with the Italian media quoting a figure of around €40m.

But English Sky claims that the Gunners actually want much more in order to part ways with the United States star.

This is likely to decrease the number of suitors for Balogun, particularly in Italy.

Inter had made Balogun their number one striker target this window after they pulled out of the running for Romelu Lukaku.

However, Inter are not prepared to pay what Arsenal are asking for Balogun and have thus started negotiating with Atletico Madrid for Alvaro Morata.

Balogun spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Stade de Reims and was one of the best players in Ligue 1, scoring 21 league goals.

He is expected to leave Arsenal this summer as he is not in the plans of manager Mikel Arteta.

What did Arteta say about Balogun?

Arteta did praise Balogun on Tuesday, though, when asked about the striker and his future.

“It’s great because he’s done incredibly well. Now we have to think about what is best to do,” Arteta said.

“We want to see him, we want to experience him in the next few games, he played the last game against Nuremberg and he will do so again in the next few games, then we’ll make the best decision.”
