Arsenal are pushing to sign Germany international Kai Havertz from Chelsea in the transfer window.

Havertz signed for the Blues in 2020, under then-manager Frank Lampard, for a fee of £75 million.

He arrived with lofty expectations, having been touted as one of the most promising young players in Europe in his time at Bayer Leverkusen.

But the 24-year-old has not developed into anything close to a world-class player at Stamford Bridge.

Havertz has played as a central midfielder, 'number 10' and, most often, striker in his three seasons in the Premier League, failing to produce consistently in any role.

So it comes as a surprise that Arsenal want to sign him, especially on the back of an impressive second-place finish.

But as FootballTransfers exclusively reported earlier, the Gunners have agreed personal terms with the player, although there remains a £15m gap in the two club's valuations.

Chelsea are said to be looking for around £70m, virtually all of what they paid Leverkusen for his services.

It remains to be seen whether the London rivals can come to an agreement over the transfer fee but it would appear that Mikel Arteta is desperate to work with Havertz next season.

Why Chelsea SHOULD sell Kai Havertz to Arsenal

Chelsea should consider lowering their £70m asking price in order to strike a deal with Arsenal.

If the Blues were to receive £60m for a player that has yet to have a good season in three attempts, that would represent excellent business.

Of course, Havertz is only 24, and Arteta could get the German to fulfil his potential at the Emirates Stadium, but that shouldn't be Chelsea's concern.

If he does improve drastically at Arsenal, it would be difficult for Blues fan to watch, but all that matters is that he has not performed at Stamford Bridge.

Not to mention, the west London club have already signed his replacement in RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku.

Plus, the fee that they receive for Havertz would go a long way to beating Arsenal to the signing of Moises Caicedo from Brighton.

As a result, Chelsea would be daft not to take the opportunity to cash in on Havertz this summer.
