Mauricio Pochettino will become Chelsea’s next full-time manager following the sacking of Graham Potter earlier this year, with Fabrizio Romano explaining that the Argentine is expected to sign the contract this week.

The decision to appoint Pochettino is one that is controversial with Blues fans, not only because he has history with Tottenham, but also because his trophy-winning pedigree is questionable.

Indeed, the only major trophies that the Argentine have won came at PSG, where he was sacked at the end of last term after 18 months in charge.

Chelsea supporters, though, are going to have to get used to the idea of Pochettino in their dugout, with Romano revealing that Todd Boehly is ready to give the manager a significant show of faith with the contract he will be offered.

According to the Italian transfer window specialist, Chelsea are ready to award Pochettino with a three-year contract that will take him through until June 2026 with the Stamford Bridge side.

This is twice the length of deal that the manager was given when he went to PSG in the winter of 2021 to replace another former Chelsea boss in the form of Thomas Tuchel.

Indeed, a three-year contract would be something of a show of faith in the ex-Spurs coach.

Pochettino takes control at Chelsea

Pochettino is expected to be given significant sway over first-team matters, which were missing during his time in Paris.

At that time, Arsenal great Thierry Henry, working as a pundit for Amazon Prime, famously said: “Pochettino isn’t being allowed to be Pochettino.”

Chelsea will now give the manager the tools to succeed in the Premier League after a wretched campaign that is set to see them finish in the bottom half of the table, despite a record transfer spend in each of the last two windows.
