It has been a horrible few days on the injury front for Man Utd as they lost both first-choice centre backs during Thursday’s Europa League clash with Sevilla.

Leading 2-0 at Old Trafford, both Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez were forced off as Sevilla hit back with two late goals to draw 2-2 in the first leg of their quarter final.

Martinez will miss the rest of the season with a fractured metatarsal, while Varane will be out for two to three weeks with a foot injury.

How many injuries do Man Utd have?

Incredibly, Man Utd now have 11 first-team squad players unavailable due to injury.

In addition to Sabitzer, Martinez and Varane, United are also without Marcus Rashford, Donny van de Beek, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, Alejandro Garnacho, Scott McTominay, Phil Jones and Tom Heaton.

Mason Greenwood is also unavailable for the foreseeable future.

All these absentees have caused manager Erik ten Hag a serious problem in what is an extremely busy end to the season.

There are still eight Premier League games remaining after this weekend, with United also in the semi-final of the FA Cup and with four possible games to go in the Europa League if they were to make it all the way to the final of the competition.
