Bayern Munich have denied reports suggesting that they are pushing Harry Kane to avoid renewing his Tottenham contract so they can make a pursuit for him next summer.

Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn was believed to have told Kane’s brother and agent that they would make a bid for him next summer when he has 12 months left on his current contract.

Kane’s contract is set to expire in 2024 and Spurs are desperate to renew it but Bayern are reportedly only able to sign the 29-year-old if he is available on a cut-price deal.

However, Bayern chief Hasan Salihamidizic dismissed the speculation, claiming it was too early to talk about any moves for the England international.

“I don't think Kahn is forcing a move for Kane You can all go down a gear,” Salihamidizic said. “There's nothing to it.”

The Bundesliga outfit have been long-term admirers of Kane and see the striker as a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who left for Barcelona this summer after eight seasons with Bayern.

Will Kane leave Tottenham?

Kane has yet to decide on his Tottenham future after asking to leave the club last summer in the hopes of joining Manchester City.

City’s interest has cooled after they signed Erling Haaland, while Kane has also backed down with his demands after Spurs hired Antonio Conte and qualified for the Champions League.

It is believed that Kane would only consider leaving Tottenham for a team that has a high chance of competing for regular trophies, making Bayern an intriguing prospect.

However, Kane is also believed to be eyeing the Premier League goalscoring record, with his 188 strikes just 72 off Alan Shearer’s 260, meaning he may prioritise a club in England.

With City seemingly out of the race and Tottenham looking to compete at a similar level to rivals such as Manchester United and Chelsea, Kane may see a renewal at Spurs as his best option, should they continue their progress.

Although, Bayern’s interest is genuine, meaning Kane will likely have a difficult decision to make next summer, assuming he has not signed a new contract by then.
