Manchester City are ready to take a decisive step in securing the transfer of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also chasing the Norway international forward, but City are set to take advantage of their financial muscle to secure the forward.

With a release clause in his Dortmund deal that is worth only €75 million, the Premier League leaders are set to differentiate themselves from their rivals with an astronomical contract offer for the hitman.

What will Man City pay Haaland?

The Daily Mail reports that Haaland will be offered a contract in the region of €600,000 (£500,000) per week.

That will make him the best-paid player in the Premier League, carrying him ahead of Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo and possible future team-mate Kevin De Bruyne.

This is a hammer blow to the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid as Spain’s Financial Fair Play regulations put a limit on their contract spending. Madrid, theoretically at least, could afford Haaland but are chasing Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain as their priority and signing two such players simply looks beyond them.

Meanwhile, City will sweeten the deal for Haaland’s entourage, with the English paper reporting that agent Mino Raiola and father Alfe Inge will receive hefty bonuses that will take the total value of the deal upwards of €100m.

Although City top the Premier League standings, they showed in Monday’s scoreless draw with Crystal Palace that they could benefit from the addition of a pure striker, such as Haaland. It is one aspect of their that is lacking right now.

Meanwhile, all the signs are beginning to point to Haaland joining Man City. Kicker in Germany reports that this is the tendency, while he Mail has previously reported that he wants a release clause placed in any contract, possibly to facilitate a future transfer to Real Madrid or Barcelona.
