Barcelona have officially completed the €65m signing of Ferran Torres from Manchester City.

The Blaugrana have been in desperate need of reinforcements in attacking areas and have been linked with a host of names including Edinson Cavani, Raheem Sterling, Karim Adeyemi, Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial.

But Ferran Torres was their preferred choice, hoping that he will improve their fortunes in a La Liga season where their performances have been largely unpredictable.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen would start in goal in behind a likely back four of Dani Alves, Ronald Araujo, Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba.

Alves was recently brought back to the club after a few years away to bring some much-needed experience to the squad.

He may be 38, but he was brought back for a reason and may usurp Sergino Dest to the right-back spot.

The midfield is where Xavi actually does have decent options, with Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Nico, Sergio Busquets, Pedri and Riqui Puig all available.

De Jong, Busquets and Pedri are first choice when all fit for now.

In attack, it is likely that Torres would feature in the centre-forward position as that is where Barca are desperately lacking in quality, with Sergio Aguero now retired and Luuk de Jong and Martin Braithwaite not proving to be the solution.

The Spaniard has also flourished there for Man City.

Ansu Fati will play ahead of Memphis Depay on the left if fully fit, while Ousmane Dembele will be deployed on the right, with Xavi an admitted fan of the Frenchman.
