Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says that the club will not be signing any new players during the January transfer window.

City were one of the biggest spenders during the summer market as they splashed out over £100 million on defenders Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake, as well as £21m on young Spanish starlet Ferran Torres.

The Citizens have made an inconsistent start to the 2020-21 campaign, impressing in the Champions League but winning only four of their nine Premier League matches thus far.

  • This has led to reports that City will dip into the January market in a bid to strengthen a team that is desperate to finally win the Champions League, as well as topple reigning English champions Liverpool.

    However, Guardiola – who recently signed a new contract – insists that he is delighted with the squad he has available.

    “[Will we sign players?]. No, not at all. I have a fantastic team to fight for all the titles,” he told reporters before Saturday’s game against Burnley.

    Pep’s confidence in his players was certainly repaid at the Etihad as they thrashed Burnley 5-0.

    Riyad Mahrez bagged a hat-trick, while Benjamin Mendy and Ferran Torres also got their names on the scoresheet.
