The full FA Cup fifth round draw

On Sunday morning, the draw for the fifth round of the 2021/22 FA Cup took place and it has thrown up some fascinating ties, as Middlesbrough earned a home game against Tottenham after knocking out Manchester United, while Manchester City will be on the road against Peterborough.

Even though there are still four matches from the fourth round that haven’t taken place yet, the fifth round draw has been held already, with the balls drawn in the build-up to Liverpool’s tie against Cardiff City.

The fifth round is the last 16 stage of the competition, so there are eight matches and they will take place on the week commencing Monday, February 28th.

The FA Cup fifth round draw in full

The draw was as follows, with the teams named first playing at home:

Luton Town vs Chelsea

Crystal Palace vs Stoke City

Peterborough vs Man City

Liverpool or Cardiff City vs Norwich City

Southampton vs West Ham

Middlesbrough vs Tottenham

Nottingham Forest or Leicester vs Huddersfield

Everton vs Bournemouth or Boreham Wood

The path to the FA Cup fifth round

There are still three ties to be played to complete the fourth round, namely Liverpool vs Cardiff City, Bournemouth or Boreham Wood and Leicester vs Huddersfield.

Then, there are 13 sides already into the last 16 of this year’s competition. Five of these teams are from outside the Premier League, as Middlesbrough beat Manchester United on penalties to make it, while Huddersfield Town defeated Barnsley, Peterborough United beat QPR, Stoke City overcame Wigan and Luton Town won in Cambridge.

Then, Chelsea won vs Plymouth, West Ham eventually overcame Kidderminster Harriers after 90 minutes, Crystal Palace saw off Hartlepool United, Southampton beat Coventry in extra time, Everton thrashed Brentford, Manchester City swatted Fulham aside, Norwich City won at Wolves and Tottenham earned victory against Brighton.
