EXCLUSIVE: Gabriel Jesus eyes January move as Premier League pair circle
Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is ready to take a major career decision with the 2026 World Cup approaching, FootballTransfers can reveal.
Having been struck by serious injury and forced to watch as Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has spent lavishly on attacking options this summer, the striker is considering his future at the Emirates Stadium.
Gabriel Jesus is exploring his options and is prepared to return to his native Brazil.
Sources have informed FootballTransfers that the 28-year-old is “seriously considering” a move away from North London, with interest growing from Premier League rivals but also from his homeland.
West Ham United and Everton have made initial enquiries with Arsenal. Both feel that Jesus would bring their squads Champions League quality and versatility to their attacking options.
Arteta moving on from Jesus
Jesus has been left out of Arsenal’s European squad, which has only intensified speculation that he is not in Arteta’s plans. He is expected to be fit imminently, yet has been overlooked for the Champions League squad, despite Kai Havertz also being sidelined on a long-term basis. The absence of the Brazilian is seen as a shift in Arsenal’s approach.
Viktor Gyokeres’ arrival from Sporting CP this summer has further complicated Jesus’ role at the Emirates. With the Swede now first choice in the No.9 role and Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli holding down roles on the wings, the Brazilian faces a battle for minutes.
One solution that he is exploring is a return to Brazil. Flamengo are monitoring the situation. The player feels that this is a viable deal because it would boost his visibility to the national team boss Carlo Ancelotti.
A January transfer now looks increasingly likely. Jesus’s contract runs until 2027, but Arsenal may be open to offers if the right bid arrives. That could come either from a Premier League rival or via the player’s homeland of Brazil.
