Dusan Vlahovic has become public enemy No.1 at Fiorentina over his decision to move to Juventus ahead of Arsenal, with the police investigating threatening and racist abuse the forward has suffered since the transfer became apparent.

For a long period in January, the Gunners appeared to be well on course to secure the signing of the prolific Serbia international.

However, the player’s agents did not play ball with Arsenal as it became increasingly apparent that the will of Vlahovic was to move to Juventus. Indeed, it has been reported in Italy that the Gunners did not even receive a reply from the 21-year-old’s entourage.

A €75 million deal has been struck between Fiorentina and Juve, while the player has agreed a contract that is reportedly worth €7m per year.

Fiorentina grew tired of the player’s behaviour amid reports that he was not prepared to sign an extension to his contract, which expires in June 2023.

Vlahovic angers Fiorentina fans

Vlahovic has burned his bridges not only with Arsenal due to his behaviour, but more importantly with the club that gave him his big break in Serie A.

The rivalry between Fiorentina and Juventus is a very tense one, particularly as the Florence side have lost the likes of Federico Bernardeschi and Federico Chiesa to the Turin giants in recent seasons.

Vlahovic’s attitude, though, has frustrated the Ultras, though, who have fashioned a series of insulting banners towards the young forward, who was their darling just a matter of weeks ago.

“Respect is not won by scoring. Vlahovic s*** hunchback,” Calciomercato reports a banner read around Fiorentina’s Stadio Artemio Franchi.

“Your bodyguards will not save your life, gypsy, it’s over for you,” another banner read, with the racial slur.

A police investigation has since been launched into the banners.

Vlahovic will, nevertheless, complete his move to Juventus, though the 21-year-old will not be welcomed back at Fiorentina and has also managed to insult Arsenal in the process of this move.
