Juventus outcast Sami Khedira says he speaks to Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti regularly and that he could leave Turin next month.

Everton, managed by Khedira’s former Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, have been the club most linked to the 33-year-old’s signature.

“I’m open to a new challenge. I had a bad time and I want to play football again, fighting for three points week after week. This is what I look forward to,” Khedira told Bild.

  • “I still have a lot of strength and energy, so I don’t look at the summer of 2021, but also December or January. A change is realistic; that’s my main objective.

“With Carlo Ancelotti we often talk on the phone and write to each other. He knows my situation. It could end up being a completely different club. Even outside England.

“It would be very fun to join a team with many young players, who I could help as a mentor in the field and share work experiences.”

Khedria’s current Juventus contact expires at the end of the season.

He signed from Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2015 and has won five straight Serie A titles in Italy.
