Rangers manager Danny Rohl has spoken about the prospect of signing a centre-forward during the January transfer window amid ongoing concerns over the form of Bojan Miovski and Youssef Chermiti.

The Glasgow giants splashed out more than €11.5 million to sign the pair in the summer, yet they have combined to score only three goals so far this season.

During Rangers’ 3-0 weekend win over Dundee, the pair again failed to trouble the net, with Nicolas Raskin heading the opening goal before contributions from Mikey Moore and Djeidi Gassama.

Rohl does not appear convinced that the Ibrox club will have the money to make another striker signing in January and backed Miovski and Chermiti, plus Danilo, to start finding the net.

“I see good moments. I see things that we need to improve. At the moment I have three players, I try to give them opportunities, to give them minutes and also belief,” he said after the Dundee victory.

“I’m always talking with them and telling them what they need to improve. If we’re growing as a group then we’re also growing individually.”

Mikey Moore has taken a step forward – Rohl

Rohl singled out on-loan Tottenham attacker Mikey Moore as someone who has left him impressed since he arrived at the club to take over from Russell Martin in October.

“At the moment, we can speak about Mikey Moore, for example. He’s taken a huge step and scored today. Also, other players scoring means that it is going in the right direction,” the Rangers manager explained.

Unless there is a dramatic shift in the fortunes of Miovski or Chermiti, Rangers will continue to be linked with a January move for a new centre-forward, and while he may not publicly admit it, the position is no doubt one that Rohl would love to upgrade if possible.
