Ousmane Dembele’s desire to leave Barcelona for PSG has not gone down well with his manager or captain – and now, some scathing words from club legend Hristo Stoichkov have resurfaced.

PSG are reportedly set to sign the France forward for €50m, six years after he joined Barca from Borussia Dortmund for €105m – which only recently dropped out of the top 10 most expensive transfers of all time.

And if his brutal rant from last year is anything to go by, Stoickhov will be glad to see the back of the 26-year-old.

Laying into Dembele at a time when he seemed to be angling for an exit from Barcelona, the Bulgarian icon said:

“Dembele, if you don’t want to be [at] Barcelona, at least don’t stain the badge. Leave the shirt and say, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, I’m leaving’; thank you very much for deceiving people.”

Stoichkov also took aim at Dembele for his injury record – which has seen him sidelined for large chunks of his Barca career. He continued:

“Dembele, in four-and-a-half-years, you have played 20 full games. In my era, you would have been the one to clean my boots…Many foreigners who have been at the club understood what Barca means. You never did.”

Dembele’s departure more or less a done deal

Dembele re-established himself as a key member of the Barcelona team last season, finishing as the La Liga champions’ joint leading provider with seven assists – as well as chipping in with five goals of his own.

But, this time, it looks as though he has played his last game for the club – with Xavi as good as admitting today that he will join PSG.
