Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele has two release clauses in his current Camp Nou deal, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Barca find themselves in a difficult situation heading into the summer, particularly with the news that Gavi’s registration has been stripped from them by the courts.

The Catalan side need to slash their outgoings if they are to register new signings, with La Liga warning that they will have to make €200 million in sales in order to be able to add new players to Xavi’s ranks.

While Gavi’s case is dominating the news agenda as Liverpool eye a potential free transfer for the young superstar, whose deal is now up at the end of the season, Dembele’s contract situation also means that he is liable to leave the club if nothing can be resolved.

Barcelona had to fight hard to get Dembele to sign a new contract last summer after his previous deal expired, but while a shift in his stance and goodwill towards Xavi’s project was important in that, he only signed a two-year agreement, making him vulnerable to be sold in the summer.

Romano reveals that presently the situation is out of Barcelona’s hands unless they can get him to sign a new contract.

What is Ousmane Dembele’s Barcelona release clause?

The transfer specialist reports that early in the summer market, Dembele has a release fee of €100 million.

However, there is a second clause in his contract that stipulates that in July and August the player can depart for as little as €50m.

Dembele has an Estimated Transfer Value of exactly €50m, but this has risen steadily from a low of just €16m in the summer. This is evidence of his increasing importance this season to Barcelona, who signed him in 2017 for €115m from Borussia Dortmund.

The 25-year-old’s career at Camp Nou has been impacted by injuries and he has been fighting a hamstring complaint in January.

Dembele has eight goals and seven assists across all competitions for Barcelona this season.
