A summer transfer from Inter Milan to Barcelona is looking increasingly possible for Marcelo Brozovic.

Barcelona and Inter were in talks during the January transfer window to do a swap deal which would see Brozovic and Franck Kessie swap clubs but were not able to get a deal over the line.

The negotiations are likely to be resurrected ahead of the summer - with or without Kessie as part of the exchange.

There are a number of reasons for this.

First of all, from Inter's side, they have financial problems and need to make a €60 million profit via sales by June 30.

Secondly, Inter are prepared to sacrifice Brozovic as he is no longer a starting player. Hakan Calhanoglu has displaced the Croatian as the deep-lying midfielder, plying an important role as Inter reached the quarter-final of the Champions League.

Brozovic has been a key player for Inter in recent years but is now 30 and has suffered from increasing injury problems this season.

Thirdly, Inter have not been impressed by Brozovic's attitude and professionalism this season.

Barcelona to move to Brozovic

From Barcelona's side, they have their own financial problems.

The Blaugrana must reduce their wage bill by around €200m before they are able to sign new players.

Barca will try to sell Frenkie de Jong to the Premier League for €80m at least and try to offload Kessie too.

Brozovic is seen as an ideal replacement, with the midfielder appreciated by manager Xavi.

This is a possible deal to watch out for this summer.
