Barcelona star admits frustration: I’m not 100% happy at the club
Barcelona star Roony Bardghji has taken advantage of the international break to press his case for more game time under Hansi Flick.
The 20-year-old arrived at Camp Nou last summer in a bargain deal worth €2.5 million from FC Copenhagen, where he had impressed in the Champions League during the 2023/24 season before last term was effectively a write off due to an ACL tear.
He had to be patient to be registered with the first team after impressing during his pre-season outings, but he has struggled for minutes. He has played 22 times this season but has accumulated only 615 minutes, despite scoring two goals and generating a further four assists – a goal contribution every 102.5 minutes on average.
Bardghji admits: I’m not 100% happy at Barcelona
Speaking to the media in his native Sweden, he told Sverige Television (via Sport): “The truth is that up until now I've had very little playing time.
“No, I’m not 100% happy, but that’s football.
“I have the utmost respect for those who have been in the squad for a long time; they're my team-mates. But I know what I can do, and I have a lot of confidence in myself.”
Roony has stressed that he is not yet pushing to leave, adding: “It’s always been my dream to play for Barca. When I won my first trophy, it was fantastic, a great feeling.”
Nevertheless, his comments come as a warning shot to Flick.
Barcelona fear Dro Fernandez repeat
Roony’s words will resonate particularly hard at Barcelona given they come only weeks after the Catalan club saw another major young talent in Dro Fernandez leave for PSG for just €8.2m.
The Swede, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €15.5m, has no doubt seen that his former Barca colleague has been given ample opportunities to impress at Parc des Princes and scored his first senior goal for the Champions League winners in a victory over Nice last weekend.
PSG have already given the 18-year-old Dro eight appearances, including three starts, in just two months at the club.
While Roony is content for now to play a peripheral role for Barcelona, it’s clearly an unsustainable situation in the long term, with this the first indication of unrest from the talented Sweden star.
