Bayern Munich are set to exact their revenge on Barcelona for their pursuit of Robert Lewandowski by opening talks with Ousmane Dembele.

According to L’Equipe, Bayern Munich are in negotiations with the Barca winger and are confident of completing a free transfer deal.

The German champions are preparing an official offer that will see Dembele receive a four-year contract and €18 million per year.

This would be some form of revenge for Bayern as Barcelona are in talks to sign their star man, Robert Lewandowski.

Dembele’s contract at Camp Nou expires at the end of the season and he has rejected all offers of a renewal.

Barcelona president Laporta had been very keen for the 25-year-old to pen a new deal. However, negotiations collapsed at the start of 2022 as Dembele was unhappy about the club offering him a paycut while spending €55 million plus €10m in add-ons for new buy Ferran Torres.

Barcelona, meanwhile, complained that Dembele was asking for too much money.

The relationship between Dembele and Barcelona then deteriorated, with the club trying to push him into either signing a new contract or leaving in January.

In the end, Dembele stayed put and he has been reintegrated into the team over the last few months, playing exceptionally and linking up superbly with January signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Barcelona have attempted to reopen contract talks with Dembele in the last weeks but they are unwilling to raise their contract offer.

Bayern are offering more than Barcelona, but they are not the only club interested in signing Dembele.

The likes of Man Utd, PSG and Chelsea have also been heavily linked.
