Jurgen Klopp has backed Wataru Endo to flourish at Liverpool after failing to hit the mark so far at Anfield.

The Japan international joined the Reds from Stuttgart in August but has struggled for minutes since his £16million move, with Alexis Mac Allister taking the No.6 slot in the starting XI.

But the German boss has called for calm, saying that Endo still has ‘five years’ left at the top of his game.

Klopp told reporters via the Mirror. “With Endo, just because of the age people think, ‘Why is he not like that?’ He is a different character to the other boys and you can see the steps he is making. He has another five years of top football in his legs."

Liverpool head into their game against Luton Town sitting fourth in the Premier League table. The club have won seven of their opening ten league games, while their current form suggests that Champions League qualification, or even a title charge, is in sight for the Merseyside club.

The Reds are four points behind the reigning champions, Manchester City, who thumped Bournemouth 6-1 on Saturday, though Pep Guardiola’s men have a game in hand.

Szoboszlai on move to Liverpool

It comes after Dominik Szoboszlai admitted he’s felt lonely since joining the Reds.

The 23-year-old has been one of the best new additions to the Premier League since arriving from Germany. He rejected Newcastle and other approaches over a move to Anfield but has conceded that he is finding life hard.

Szoboszlai recently spoke on his life in England following his £60m move from RB Leipzig over the summer.

He told the Hungarian podcast, Premier Leak. He said: "I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel lonely sometimes. There are days when I’m just sitting on the couch wondering about what to do. Then I put on a movie and try to fall asleep, hoping for tomorrow."
