David Ornstein has thrown cold water on the suggestions that Chelsea are keen on Ivan Toney.

The reporter has stated that the striker may well stay with Brentford until the end of his contract. Toney has been linked with a move to Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham, who are looking for a replacement for Harry Kane.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has so far not used a traditional No. 9, relying on the goal-scoring prowess of Son Heung-Min instead.

But despite the number of sides linked to Toney, Ornstein has suggested that Chelsea may not be in the market for him.

"Chelsea do want an attacker but is he [Ivan Toney] the right age and profile? I don't think he is high on their list at the moment Contrary to reports,” he told NBC Sports.

What has Romano said on Toney links?

It comes after Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Toney is liked by Arsenal but nothing has been agreed between Brentford and the Gunners.

The English forward is currently serving a footballing ban after pleading guilty to over 200 betting breaches but he will return to action in January when that is lifted.

Romano said: “Toney is really appreciated by Arsenal, same as Chelsea, so I think the race is absolutely open," he added. "At the moment nothing is agreed with the player or Brentford, but for sure he’s appreciated.

“We’ll have to see Arsenal’s situation in December, it will depend on their position in their Champions League group and the Premier League table.

“It’s not guaranteed that they will spend big money on Toney, because it would have to be at least £65m, so Arsenal want to take their time to decide on what they need.”
