Mason Mount wants to join former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich, according to The Guardian.

Tuchel, who was sacked by Chelsea in September, has recently replaced Julian Nagelsmann as head coach of Bayern.

The attacking midfielder has starred for Chelsea in recent seasons but has struggled under Graham Potter in the 2022-23 campaign.

And despite his poor form, Mount wants a lucrative new contract to reflect his performance level in years gone by.

Chelsea's owners, on the other hand, are not willing to meet his demands, given he has not been a key player in their time in charge.

They also want to sign Mount to an extremely long-term deal, of up to eight seasons, which the 24-year-old is not interested in.

Mount to leave Chelsea?

It is important to remember that Mount is just 24 years of age when discussing the stagnation of his career.

The Chelsea academy product enjoyed successful seasons out on loan at Vitesse Arnhem and Derby County, before returning to Stamford Bridge.

Since then, he became a first-team regular under Frank Lampard in the 2019-20 season and won the club's Player of the Season award in the following two seasons.

The England international has played a lot of football in a short space of time, and at a high level, so he has earned enough credit to withstand one poor season.

Chelsea have several players, like Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz, that have never hit the heights of Mount.

The Blues would be making a huge mistake if they were to sell Mount in the next transfer window, especially for a cut-price fee of around £50 million.
