Man Utd transfer news: Solskjaer details January plans

Man Utd manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that he is happy with his current squad and won’t be conducting any incoming business in the January transfer window unless a “surprise” presents itself.
The Red Devils are still trying to offload a number of fringe players at Old Trafford including Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, and Sergio Romero, while youngsters Daniel James and Brandon Williams are expected to go out on loan.
They have already sold Timothy Fosu-Mensah to Leverkusen, with Odion Ighalo also leaving after his loan spell ended.
As for incomings, the Norwegian isn’t expecting anything to happen.
“I wouldn’t think so, no. I’d be surprised if we do any incomings,” the Man Utd boss told reporters.
“The squad is strong, it’s full of quality. I still need to leave players out for the squad at times. Bar something surprising happening, I wouldn’t think something will happen [in terms of] incomings, no.”

The coronavirus pandemic continues to hit clubs hard financially as it did in the summer, but Man Utd were actually one of the more active teams in bringing players in before the campaign started.
Donny van de Beek was the most expensive signing, arriving for around £35m [€39m], while former PSG striker Edinson Cavani and Porto captain Alex Telles were brought in on deadline day.
Man Utd also made two signings for the future by acquiring wonderkid Amad Diallo from Atalanta and Facundo Pellistri from Penarol.
However, they missed out on their primary transfer target in the summer as they failed to land Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.
Solskjaer was keen to complete his attacking line up with the signing of the England international, but the German side remained firm on their reported £100m valuation which Man Utd were not willing to pay at the time.
