Spartak Moscow confirm £4m Victor Moses signing from Chelsea

Victor Moses’ loan move from Spartak Moscow to Chelsea will be made permanent this summer for a reported £4 million, the Russian Premier League club have confirmed.

The 30-year-old Moses, who has been on Chelsea’s books since 2012 but has spent loan spells at numerous different clubs, including Liverpool, Inter and now Spartak Moscow.

The Nigeria international star, who joined Spartak Moscow in October, will now see his stint at Stamford Bridge come to an end due to an agreement between the Blues and his Russian side.

Yaroslav Kuleman, a spokesman for Spartak, explained in an interview with Sport24 (via Sport.ru): “When we finished in the top three, Moses’ contract automatically was ours. These were conditions prescribed in the original loan agreement.”

It is reported that Moses will cost the Russian side £4m after they finished second in the standings, eight points behind champions Zenit St Petersburg but sufficiently well placed to secure an automatic spot in next season’s Champions League.

And Moses has had his fair share to play in this success. Since arriving, he has started 18 of the 20 games that he has been available for, missing one due to injury and making his debut off the bench two days after arriving at the club.

On the occasion of his first start, the midfielder netted what proved to be the winning goal in a 3-1 win against Krasnodar.

He has primarily been used on the right of the midfield by Spartak, although on occasion he has also started on the left.

During his time at Chelsea, meanwhile, Moses featured 128 times, scoring 18 goals and chipping in with 13 further assists. In total, he has played 220 times in the Premier League, doing so with great versatility as he featured everywhere down the right, as a left winger, an attacking midfielder and even a second striker.
