The transfer fee for the move is estimated to be €40 million.

Nuno Mendes arrived at PSG on loan last summer, with the Parisians possessing an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the 2021-22 season. They have now activated that option.

A statement on PSG’s official website read: “Paris Saint-Germain has completed the permanent transfer of Nuno Mendes. The Portugal left-back is now tied to the club from the French capital until 30 June 2026.

“A product of the Sporting Clube de Portugal youth academy, Nuno Mendes became the 13th Portuguese player to represent Paris Saint-Germain when he joined the club on loan last summer, just a few months after winning the league and cup double in Portugal with the Leões,” read PSG’s statement.

“In his first season in Paris, the teenage international made 37 appearances, providing two assists and playing his part in the club’s tenth French championship triumph. Nominated for the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year award, he was named best left-back of the competition at just 19 years of age.

“Having represented his country in every youth category, the native of Sintra made his senior international debut in March 2021 against Azerbaijan, before playing at UEFA Euro 2020. He has 13 caps for Portugal.”

Nuno Mendes doesn’t turn 20 until next month and has enjoyed an excellent first season in Ligue 1.

He has also been capped 13 times for the Portugal national team.
