Ronald Koeman has admitted that he doesn’t know if he will be sacked as Barcelona manager following yet another defeat on Wednesday evening.

Barca lost 1-0 at Rayo Vallecano as Colombian veteran Radamel Falcao scored the only goal of the game.

The Blaugrana had a chance to equalise in the second half but Memphis Depay missed a penalty.

The result means that Barcelona are down in ninth position in La Liga, having lost two games in row.

This has piled the pressure on coach Koeman.

What did Koeman say?

“I don’t know if my future is in danger,” Koeman was quoted by Marca at full-time.

“We have players with goals in them. [Sergio] Aguero, [Memphis] Depay.

“It was difficult for us to get into the game, they put a lot of pressure on us. We’ve been superior. The result isn’t fair, but it’s there and we can’t change it.

“The game we lost today isn’t a problem of attitude or play. The team’s level has dropped. We’ve lost very effective players, which also counts.”

Barcelona are in dismal form right now, having lost four of their last six games in all competitions. They have also won just three of their last 10 games.

Losing 1-0 in the Clasico to rivals Real Madrid led to strong protests from fans as Koeman’s own car was blocked by supporters as he tried to leave after the game.

Koeman enjoyed a legendary playing career with Barcelona, famously scoring the winning free-kick in the 1992 European Cup final.

However, his return to the club as manager in 2020 has been a big disappointment. Barca failed to win La Liga last season and were knocked out in the Champions League in the last 16. They did, however, lift the Copa del Rey.
