Bayern Munich look set to have another turbulent summer transfer window, with a number of key players set to leave the club.

Niklas Sule has already confirmed that he will depart for Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season, while Corentin Tolisso also seems destined to leave Bayern when his current deal comes to an end.

Both players are set to leave because their contracts have come to an end, but they could be joined by players that the club have been forced into selling.

One such player is winger Serge Gnabry, who continues to attract interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

According to reports in Germany, the winger is a transfer target for Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid.

And while it may have seemed unlikely to see the Germany international leave Munich 12 months ago, the situation has somewhat changed rather dramatically since then.

Could Gnabry leave Bayern?

The crux of the matter comes down to Gnabry’s current contract situation at Bayern and whether or not the club will be able to fix the problem.

Following the arrival of Leroy Sane on a big-money move and Kingsley Coman becoming one of the club’s most highly paid players, Gnabry is now next in line to discuss an extension to his contract, which expires in 2023.

However, unlike Sane and Coman, Gnabry struggles to garner the same appreciation and match-winning performances and, according to reports in Germany, would struggle to demand the same kind of salary as the club’s other wingers.

As such, Gnabry may be forced to look elsewhere if Bayern aren’t willing to pay him what he wants. And if clubs like Madrid, Chelsea or Spurs are willing to match the player’s demands, the former Arsenal forward may push for a move this summer.

Similarly, with Bayern in desperate need of a new central defender, defensive midfielder and right back this summer, the club may also agree that a transfer this summer is far more useful that to let Gnabry leave for free 12 months later.
