Liverpool and Spurs transfer target confirms no new offer from Gladbach

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Matthias Ginter has confirmed that Borussia Monchengladbach have yet to offer him an extension to his contract.
The German international has quickly emerged as an intriguing defensive target for both Premier League sides following another impressive season with the Foals.
Reports in Germany have also suggested that Bayer Leverkusen may be interested in signing the 27-year-old talent.
As such, Gladbach will have to make sure they sign the defender down to a new contract as quickly as possible.

Ginter’s current deal is set to expire in 2022, which means if the defender doesn’t sign an extension to his contract Gladbach may be forced into selling him this summer or risk losing him for free next year.
However, good news for Liverpool and Spurs fans will come in the form of the defender confirming that those negotiations have yet to begin.
"There have been no negotiations or other talks regarding the contract yet," said the German defender in a press conference on Thursday. "They will certainly sit down together after the tournament or the holiday."
Could Ginter move to Liverpool or Tottenham this summer?
While Ginter may have once been deemed surplus to requirement at Borussia Dortmund, the defender has spent the last four years rebuilding his reputation at Gladbach and is now one of the best central defenders in the Bundesliga.
As such, it would make plenty of sense for Tottenham, Liverpool or indeed Leverkusen to be sniffing around the player’s contract situation at Gladbach with great interest. Especially if they can sign the player for a cut-down price.
However, it remains to be seen whether Ginter plans on turning down any contract offer that will fall into his lap after Euro 2020 and if the clubs linked with him are genuinely interested.
Liverpool, for example, have just splurged in the window on RB Leipzig central defender Ibrahima Konate and are unlikely to spend big on another defensive target. And Tottenham may put any summer plans on hold until they can hire a new manager.
