Manchester United are set to have a big summer, with several players set to join the club and many more set to leave, as they begin yet another new era at Old Trafford.

Several players are already set to leave – many due to their contracts running out – such as Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani, and that could give the club a financial boost.

Amongst the five, the latter two earned a significant amount, and letting go of them could create a chance to invest elsewhere.

The Manchester United squad is in dire need of rebuilding, having missed out on Champions League football for the 2022-23 season as they suffered a 4-0 defeat at Brighton and Hove Albion.

New manager Erik ten Hag has a huge task on his hands, not only to implement his own ideas, but to fix the mess left before him as he hopes for a successful tenure at Old Trafford.

How can Man Utd raise funds through these departures?

Pogba may have already played his final game for the club when he came off injured after 10 minutes in the match against Liverpool last month, and there are several suitors for him including Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and controversially, Manchester City.

Matic, meanwhile, received a respectful goodbye at Old Trafford last week, and could be on his way to Turin as well, with Italian media linking him with a move to Juventus.

Just like the Serb, Mata too has been given a chance to make his final few appearances for the club having been there since 2014.

Lingard has been angling for a move for a while and lamented the club’s treatment of him in the last few weeks, as he was left out of the squad for the final home game of the season, and he could be on his way to Italy as well with several potential suitors.

All of this could save Manchester United about £50 million in wages elsewhere – money that could be invested elsewhere, either within the squad or on transfers.
