Liverpool's first signing of the summer revealed

Liverpool’s first signing of the 2023 summer transfer window has been revealed by former Anfield defender Jose Enrique.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have had a difficult campaign and find themselves fighting to reach the Champions League next season.

The finger has often been pointed at the midfield for being a source of their problems, and it is suggested that the Reds will seek to revolutionise this area of the park in the summer with at least two new additions.

Klopp is looking to the Bundesliga in order to secure a deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham – a transfer that has become all the more difficult to complete following the Reds’ defeat in the Champions League to Real Madrid earlier this week – but the Spaniard claims there is already an agreement in place for Liverpool to sign a Bayern Munich star.

Ryan Gravenberch is a player who has long been linked with the Premier League. Last season, there was much talk of Manchester United landing him, and that resurfaced in January. But just as the Reds whisked Cody Gakpo from under the noses of the Red Devils in the winter transfer window, they could do the same with the Netherlands international.

Speaking on a live stream, Enrique was asked about the player and replied: “This player is ours, amigo… He said ‘yeah’.

“He’s got the same agents as me, team Raiola. We had a meeting not long ago in London, this is our player.”

Before he could explain any further, he was cut off by the host, who said: “Be careful, you’re on live!”

Gravenberch’s struggles since Bayern transfer

Gravenberch only moved to Bayern last summer from Ajax for €18.5 million but has struggled to hold down a regular place in one of the most competitive midfields in world football. Although he has played 24 times for the Bundesliga giants, he has featured in only 684 minutes of competitive action, including just four starts, only one of which has come in the league.

Despite his struggles, Gravenberch, who is under contract until June 2027, has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €52.7m.

He has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks as an alternative to Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount, yet it seems that he is already Anfield bound.
