We are now just two months away from the opening of the summer transfer window on July 1.

Naturally, the focus in the media has been about the transfers that will go through this summer.

And many of the players who do move in the coming weeks will be those whose contracts are expiring at the end of next season.

The reason for that is because clubs know that if such players don’t sign a new contract they risk losing them for nothing in the summer of 2023 on a Bosman Transfer.

Below are five Premier League players in such a predicament who could be sold this summer.

Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah has been arguably the best player in the Premier League ever since his arrival from Roma in 2017.

He has become a cult hero at Anfield, playing a pivotal role in their Premier League and Champions Leagie triumphs and leading them into contention for a historic quadruple.

However, contract talks over a renewal have made next to no progress for almost a year now.

Salah has said previously that it is his intention to remain at the club, though he is reportedly looking to become the highest-paid player in the club's history.

Given Salah turns 30 next month, Liverpool are wary of offering an ageing player a big contract.

Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford has endured the most difficult season of his career, scoring just five goals in all competitions.

He has been heavily criticised by the media and by fans, and the prospect of him signing a new contract in such circumstances are slim.

It has been reported for months now that Rashford will consider an exit this summer, although it’s also possible he could aim for a fresh start under incoming manager Erik ten Hag.

Jorginho

Jorginho is likely to leave Chelsea this summer if a club can be found that matches his wage demands.

The Brazilian-born Italy midfielder has lost favour under Thomas Tuchel in 2022 following a dip in form.

Now 30, Jorginho would like to return to Italy and Chelsea would be open to that given they need to renew their team. Juventus are among the clubs interested.

N’Golo Kante

Another crucial midfielder in Chelsea’s Champions League triumph in 2021 who could be moved on this summer.

Chelsea are set for a mini-revolution in the summer transfer window under their new owners, and given Kante is now 31 and increasingly injury-prone, he could also be sacrificed.

The Frenchman will be 32 by time his current contract expires and so it is very possible Chelsea will listen to offers this summer. PSG are keen.

Bernd Leno

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has made more than 100 appearances since his £22.5 million move from Leverkusen.

However, the signing of Aaron Ramsdale last summer saw the German lose his place in the team.

Arsenal have made it clear that Leno is for sale and will accept a cut-price fee. Newcastle and a number of Bundesliga teams are interested.

Gabriel Jesus

Manchester City are set to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer, with a transfer close to being made official.

Gabriel Jesus will be the main casualty of this move as he will be sold to make way for the striker.

Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign the Brazilian, with a transfer fee of around €30m being mooted.
