From Ronaldo to Casillas: Football reacts to Marcelo leaving Real Madrid

Marcelo has left Real Madrid this season after spending over 15 years at the club, and it has proven to be an emotional affair.
Yesterday, Real Madrid held their official farewell ceremony for their captain, and Marcelo gave an emotional speech as he called time on his spell at Los Blancos.
The Brazilian has been a vital figure in Real Madrid’s recent history, being a part of their recent Champions League and La Liga successes, and playing with players like Iker Casillas, Fabio Cannavaro, Raul, Cristiano Ronaldo and more.
He was brought in to be the long-term successor to Roberto Carlos, but arguably eclipsed his legacy and achieved even more than he did at the club.
On his final day, several Real Madrid players and legends paid tribute to the departing left-back, praising him for his impact on the squad as a whole as well as his qualities as a player that made him one of the modern day’s finest full-backs.

Marcelo arrived at Real Madrid in the 2006-07 season and made 546 appearances for them, scoring 38 goals in that period.
In that time, he won five Champions League honours, six league titles, two Copa del Rey, three UEFA Super Cups and four Club World Cups in an illustrious Real Madrid career.
It’s unclear where he will be playing next season, but there has been interest in the player, with Marseille and Fenerbahche interested in bringing the Brazilian over to their clubs.
Marcelo himself confirmed he’s willing to play for a little longer amidst rumours of a potential retirement, and wouldn’t mind facing Real Madrid at some point in the future: “I won't retire, not now. I feel I can still play. Facing Real Madrid? It won't be a problem. I'm a bit Madridista but I'm also a big professional”
