Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is now just one step away from officially signing for Manchester City.

A deal for the 26-year-old England international was agreed last week, with the reported fee between £40-50 million, but the player is yet to complete his Man City medical.

That has been the only delay in proceedings, with Phillips on a post-season break following the end of the Premier League campaign. The paperwork has all been signed by both clubs involved, and it now relies on Phillips passing his medical.

When is Phillips' Man City medical?

According to The Athletic's Leeds United reporter Phil Hay, Phillips is due to undergo his Man City medical today ahead of his official unveiling.

Provided Phillips passes his medical, he will be officially announced as a Man City player very soon. Furthermore, Man City youngster Darko Gyabi is in Leeds to begin the process of confirming his £5m move the other way. This deal isn't connected to the Phillips move and is also expected to be completed soon.

Phillips will the replace the outgoing Fernandinho in the Man City squad, with the Brazilian veteran re-joining his first professional club, Athletico Paranaense, on a free transfer after his contract at the Etihad Stadium expired after nine years at the club.

The Leeds star will become Pep Guardiola's second signing of the transfer window, after confirming the purchase of Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland earlier this summer.

Arminia Bielefeld goalkeeper Stefan Ortega will also join the club, and his move will reportedly be confirmed when current back-up goalkeeper, USMNT international Zack Steffen, joins Middlesbrough on a season-long loan deal.

Phillips was wanted by Man City's local rivals Manchester United, but the Englishman repeatedly stressed he wouldn't join Leeds' arch enemies and instead opted for a role under Guardiola.
