Valencia ‘irresponsible’ over Soler and Gaya Barcelona transfer talks

Valencia’s board are “irresponsible” for opening transfer negotiations with Barcelona over star pair Carlos Soler and Jose Luis Gaya, according to Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.
The Palace shot-stopper, who has been a regular for the Premier League side since joining the club from Getafe in 2018, spent the early years of his career at the Mestalla.
Guaita, however, is disheartened to see the manner in which the club is presently being run and has criticised president Anil Murthy, branding him “unworthy” of his position.

For the 35-year-old, the ongoing transfer talks between Valencia and Barcelona over their two best players are the final straw.
“You have to be irresponsible to go to Barcelona right now and offer them Gaya and Soler,” he told El Larguero. “Murthy does not care what happens to Valencia. He’s the most unworthy president in the history of the club.”
Barca offer three players in part exchange
Barcelona have been told that they will have to pay as much as €70 million for the pair, with president Joan Laporta set to try to whittle the price down by offloading some of the Catalan’s excess baggage to Valencia in return.
Three options have been proposed to the Mestalla club, according to Mundo Deportivo. Martin Braithwaite, Sergino Dest and Riqui Puig have all been peripheral to Xavi’s plans at Camp Nou and could move in the opposite direction.
This would be an ideal solution for Barca. Not only would it help reduce their spend on the deal via a smaller transfer fee, it would also see their long-term expenditure fall as it would get at least one further wage off their payroll.
Valencia, meanwhile, are a club that has struggled to realise its status as one of the biggest in Spain in recent years, often finding itself either in a relegation battle or firmly in the middle of the table. That has been the case this term, with Los Che 11th in La Liga with just a single game of the season remaining.
