Man Utd target Kieran Tripper recorded his fifth assist of the season on Tuesday evening as Atletico Madrid recorded a key 2-0 victory over Sevilla in La Liga.

Seventeen minutes into proceedings at the Wanda Metropolitano, the former Spurs man galloped down the right wing before picking out a low pass into the box for Angel Correa, who finished well into the bottom right corner.

  • Due to alleged betting offences, Trippier had been banned from all football related activity for 10 weeks, with the suspension due to end in February.

However, with that now being investigated further, the ban has been temporarily lifted, with him subsequently allowed to return to the team for the Sevilla match.

Diego Simeone put him right back into the starting XI, and it paid off as he recorded a 7.4 FootballCritic Rating.

Trippier is now joint-second in the list for the most assists in La Liga this season, with only Celta’s Iago Aspas having recorded more with six.

He is on five alongside team-mate Correa and Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema.

His performance is the latest in a line of impressive ones for Atletico this campaign, as he has been one of their standout players in a season which sees Los Colchoneros top La Liga by four points with two games in hand.

Man Utd are reportedly interested in bringing Trippier back to the Premier League, as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer aims to sign some competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the right-back position.

It was the Telegraph who initially reported Man Utd’s interest in signing the England international, but Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo subsequently claimed that Trippier was “untouchable” at Atletico Madrid, with Simeone viewing him as one of his key players and a player certainly involved in any future plans for the club.

Atletico’s next match sees them take on Eibar away from home.
