Manchester United, who pursued the England winger throughout last summer, are one of those sides, while Liverpool are considered to be another.

Emile Heskey, who turned out for the Reds for four years between 2000 and 2004, has backed the idea that Sancho would be a fine signing for the Anfield club.

Speaking to Rousing the Kop, he replied when asked if he thought Sancho would be a good addition: “He would be. He’s a young lad who has been fantastic in the German league. He’s really come of age and he is a very exciting player and is someone who gets fans off their bums, gets them cheering. He would be a very, very good signing.

“He’s a very, very exciting young player. Very dynamic. He brings you skills and all that excitement which comes with a player of his talent.”

Sancho’s asking price, meanwhile, is though to have dropped from €120 million to €85-90m in a year.

Liverpool have a well-established front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, with Diogo Jota knocking at the door.

However, the Anfield club are likely to see a turnover in their offensive staff in the summer, with Divock Origi set to depart.

There could be a higher profile sale from Liverpool, though, with Salah strangely enigmatic over his future in recent days. This comes amid rumours that he could replace Kylian Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain should the Ligue 1 club sell.

As such, it is no surprise to see Liverpool linked with a talent such as Sancho, particularly as foreign players will become increasingly difficult to sign given Brexit. Jurgen Klopp’s side may not need him now, but come the summer he could look like a very good option indeed.
