Denzel Dumfries insists he is “not at all concerned” about rumours linking him with a move away from PSV this summer.

The Netherlands defender has made a spectacular start to Euro 2020.

Dumfries scored the winning goal in the Oranje’s 3-2 win over Ukraine and then won a penalty before scoring the second goal as Austria were beaten 2-0 on matchday two.

Those displays have prompted speculation over his future, with reports suggesting the 25-year-old may have a €15 million release clause in his contract which would make him more affordable than many of the top names on the transfer market.

Dumfries has been linked with Bayern Munich, while multiple Premier League sides are also said to be closely monitoring him.

But the right-back has stressed his full focus is on the Euros.

"I just play my game as I always do," he said, per Goal, after being asked about talk over a future transfer.

"I'm not at all concerned. I concentrate fully on the tournament.

"There is still a lot of room for improvement. I want to grow in knowing how to choose the right position in the possession phase, in the passages, so that I can make the right choice in advance and improve my performance."

Dumfries keen on Bundesliga and Premier League

While he is not allowing transfer talk to distract from Netherlands’ Euro 2020 bid, Dumfries has been more open about his future in the past.

In January, he was eager to talk about which leagues could suit him well and suggested the COVID-19 pandemic was why he was still at PSV.

"There are new things on the horizon,” he said to Voetbal International at the start of 2021.

“[A departure] did not happen [due to the pandemic] and I am very happy at PSV.

“But I do feel that, as a footballer and as a person, I am ready to take the next step abroad.

"The Premier League and the Bundesliga, they suit my game.

“I can see the headlines again, but I think I can say this and I think everyone can see that I am ready to move on."

De Boer relieved over Depay

This weekend saw Netherlands' star player Memphis Depay end speculation over his future by signing a two-year contract with Barcelona.

That came as a relief to head coach Frank de Boer, who hopes it will help the forward to kickstart his tournament.

So far he has scored a penalty against Austria but not been at his best.

De Boer said: "It's a relief. Maybe that gives him an extra kick to perform even better. We need Memphis in top form.

“Memphis is the first to criticise himself or the way he plays and says to himself: 'I can do better than what I've shown so far'.

"He is not a different person when being criticised. He is very self-confident and knows exactly what he wants.

"It is not so easy to upset him. Let's hope he gets to the level we hope he will get. He's very important for the team.“

With a place in the last 16 already secured, Netherlands may make changes to their line-up for their final Group C game against North Macedonia on Monday.
