Everton boss Frank Lampard is interested in bringing Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks to Goodison Park.

Winks developed into an important member of Spurs' first-team squad, making 31 appearances in the 2019-20 Premier League season.

However, he has started just 18 times in the past two league campaigns, and is not likely to win manager Antonio Conte over.

So, Winks is likely to leave the north London club in the summer transfer window.

Lampard likes the 26-year-old, who has 10 international caps for England, but Spurs' asking price could be an issue.

The Toffees are low on funds, having wasted so much on the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Theo Walcott in previous years.

Therefore, a loan deal could be the only way for Lampard to get Winks through the door.

His wages shouldn't be an issue, even though they are high, given Fabian Delph's contract is set to expire at the end of the month.

How many top 6 duds is Frank Lampard going to sign?

Frank Lampard appears to be making a habit of signing players that are no longer wanted by the top six clubs in the Premier League.

In the January window, he took Donny van de Beek on loan from Manchester United and signed Harry Winks' former teammate Dele Alli from Tottenham.

Neither of them contributed much to Everton's relegation battle, where they only achieved safety in the penultimate game of the season.

It is fair to say that those two transfers were mistakes, and the signing of Winks would likely follow suit.

The Toffees need to be looking for hungry, young players with a point to prove, like Chelsea pair Billy Gilmour and Conor Gallagher.

Far too often clubs sign high reputation players that don't fit the direction that the team is going in.

Lampard must avoid repeating this mistake if he is to make a success of his time at Goodison Park.
