Man Utd target David Brooks ‘desperate’ for Premier League return

Manchester United target David Brooks has admitted that he is “desperate” to return to the Premier League, although he hopes to do so with Bournemouth.
The Cherries were relegated at the end of the 2019-20 campaign and have made a satisfactory start to the Championship season, suffering only a single defeat in their first 10 matches.
Winger Brooks has featured only on four occasions because of injury issues, having missed much of the relegation campaign due to ankle surgery. However, he had caught the eye during a breakout 2018-19 season, scoring seven goals and adding five more assists in 30 league outings.
Such a return has seen United credited with an interest, and the 23-year-old has admitted that he is eager to get back to the top level of the game.
“I had a full season and then got injured. From my point of view, it was cut a bit short for myself,” he told the Daily Echo of his Premier League experience.
“I was disappointed I couldn’t really factor in last year, so I am desperate to get back in the Premier League and hopefully it’s with Bournemouth.
“Everyone wants to be playing at the big, nice stadiums and on the big occasions hopefully, when the crowds are back in.
“We are all working towards that and, with the squad we’ve got, we’ve got a really good chance.”
Is Brooks to Man Utd likely?
The Wales international started his senior career with Sheffield United, where he played 30 league matches before winning a £10 million move to the south coast.
He was previously a member of Manchester City academy, having joined the Citizens as a seven-year-old, and he would remain in their youth system for 10 years.
A return to Manchester has been mooted as a possibility for Brooks, albeit with United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have made a habit of signing bright, young British talent, although uncertainty over Brooks long-term fitness and a plethora of options already in the forward areas suggests the versatile attacker will have to prove himself again before any deal is cut.
