Barcelona are looking to sign Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta in the next transfer window, as well as two more of the Blues' defenders.

Andreas Christensen has reportedly already agreed to join La Blaugrana on a free transfer once the window opens.

Add to that, Marcos Alonso, who manager Thomas Tuchel is willing to let go of, is another of Barca's summer targets.

Meanwhile, Azpilicueta is expected to make it three players leaving west London for northeastern Spain.

The Spaniard, like his Danish teammate, was into the final year of his contract.

However, the club recently triggered a one-year extension option which means it will now take a fee to prize him away from Stamford Bridge.

And, the Blues hierarchy are looking for €11 million for the club legend, who led the club to Champions League success last season.

Personal terms won't be an issue, so it just comes down to whether Xavi's side can sanction the transfer given the financial predicament they find themselves in.

Can Chelsea afford to lose three players to Barcelona?

Losing three players to the same club in one window is unheard of, but in this case it makes a lot of sense.

Christensen is one that Chelsea would have kept, ideally, but his recent troubles have made him appear more expendable.

Alonso, on the other hand, has proved his worth in recent weeks, filling in for the injured Ben Chilwell.

However, once Chilwell returns, and a new, younger left-back is signed, there will no place for the 31-year-old in Tuchel's plans.

As for Azpilicueta, he has shown reasonable decline over the past few seasons and, while a decent squad player, would be no significant loss to the Blues at this stage of his career.

So, even though it will make for a hectic transfer window as they go about replacing multiple players, Chelsea can afford to lose all three to Barcelona.
