New Brazilian signing Kaio Jorge was the big absentee as Max Allegri named Juventus’ Champions League squad for the group stages.

The 19-year-old is regarded as one of the best youngsters in South American football and joined Juve from Santos this past summer.

However, the Brazilian was cut from Juve’s squad – as was young left-back Luca Pellegrini.

Juventus tried to sell Pellegrini in the last days of the window but failed, despite heavy interest from West Ham.

There are no other big surprises as Juventus tackle Chelsea, Zenit St Petersburg and Malmo in Group H.

The Bianconeri will be hoping to perform much better this season, having disappointed in the Champions League in recent seasons.

They were eliminated in the last-16 in the last two campaigns by Lyon and then Porto, while in the season before that they lost to Ajax in the quarter-final.

Juventus were rocked in the last few days of the summer transfer window when star man Cristiano Ronaldo demanded to leave the club.

Ronaldo subsequently returned to Manchester United after 12 years away for a fee of €15 million plus €8m in bonuses.

Juventus open up their Champions League 2021-22 campaign with an away trip to Malmo.
