Avram Grant: I’ve not received any approach from Chelsea

Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant has confirmed that the Premier League side have made no approach to bring him back to Stamford Bridge.
Grant had been heavily linked with a return to the club in an interim role that would have seen him help Frank Lampard in the management of the first team.
The Israeli coach famously took over as Chelsea manager in 2007 when Jose Mourinho’s first stint at the club came to an end.
Alongside first-team coach Steve Clarke, Grant guided Mourinho’s squad to second place in the Premier League and a runners-up spot in the Champions League.
However, the 65-year-old coach was quick to dismiss any rumours of a return to the London club, when he took to Instagram on Thursday night to confirm Chelsea had made no approach for his services.

“I read the links in the media connecting me with a return to Chelsea and I had so many positive messages from Chelsea fans on Instagram,” said Grant
“But I must say I didn’t receive any official approach from the club. I can only repeat what I said lately about the situation at Chelsea.
“Be strong, look for a solution and what everybody needs now is time. It is good for Frank, I believe that he will do the job well, and it’s good for the club.”
Rumours of Grant’s return to Chelsea have come after a turbulent period for Lampard, with his side currently on a troubling run of form that has seen them pick up just two wins from their last eight games.
However, it seems for now that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will be sticking by his manager instead of turning to friends from the past.
Following the notable success in his one year as Chelsea manager, Grant’s coaching career has since seen him take up roles at Portsmouth, West Ham, Partizan Belgrade and most recently the Ghana national team.
