Southampton’s Hasenhuttl dismisses Man United rumours

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has dismissed reports that suggest he could be the next Manchester United manager.
After joining the Premier League side in December 2018, Hasenhuttl took the Saints to 16th and then 11th place in the English top-flight.
Yet, so far this season, the German manager has taken Southampton to new heights, with just two defeats in their first nine league matches.
And with Manchester United lingering in mid-table under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, some have suggested the former RB Leipzig could work wonders at Old Trafford.
However, when asked about the job, Hasenhuttl was quick to laugh off the links and expressed his desire to continue doing his job at St Mary’s.

“It is not really something I listen to,” said Hasenhuttl when asked about his future. “I find myself listening to the radio when they talk about football, it is interesting to hear.
“My only interest is what happens at this club. I signed a long-term contract, the way we are improving this club gives me so much joy. I think there is something special growing here.”
Both sides face each other in the Premier League on Sunday, with Solskjaer undoubtedly intent on not only winning the match but putting together a run of form that would see his side win their last three consecutive league matches.
However, when asked about Hasenhuttl’s success at Southampton the Man United manager was full of praise and compared him to fellow German manager, Jurgen Klopp, and his success at Anfield.
“It is similar to when Jurgen came to Liverpool. He likes pressing, front foot, aggressive,” said Solskjaer.
“They are difficult to play against if you dwell on the ball. Very interesting to watch their progress under Ralph.
“I am a big admirer of the physical attributes they have in their team.”
