Declan Rice has hinted that a desire to win trophies could force him to eventually leave West Ham.

The 21-year-old has cemented himself as a regular for club and country since making the step up to senior football from the Hammers’ academy in 2017.

His performances have led to links with a number of top clubs, most notably former club Chelsea, who were thought to be considering a move over the summer.

And the midfielder has admitted that he is desperate to win as much silverware as possible in his career – an ambition that would doubtless be more easily realised at Stamford Bridge.

  • “You want to be successful for club and country. I think it’s an important thing to win trophies,” he told Sky Sports.

    “I’m only 21 but to get those highs of your career you need to win stuff and that’s what I want to do.”

    Rice has already clocked up 120 appearances for West Ham since making his first-team breakthrough three years ago.

    He has also earned 13 England caps, and scored his first goal at senior international level during a Nations League win over Iceland earlier this month.
